Linkin Park formed the soundtrack of my adolescence. Hybrid Theory, Meteora, Minutes to Midnight. These albums were a way to understand and process things that had no other language. Watching them perform at the Stade de France in July 2025 was not just a concert. It was a reunion with a version of myself that I had not thought about in years.
The show opened before I had fully processed being inside the stadium. The production was enormous, the sound system one of the best I have heard at the Stade de France, and the new setlist structure balanced the new material with the classic catalogue in a way that felt respectful rather than commercial.
Emily Armstrong as the new vocalist is the central question every longtime fan carries into the building. What I can tell you is that she performed with extraordinary commitment and capability. The songs that Chester Bennington made essential sounded different with her voice, which is both inevitable and correct. She is not trying to replace him. She is leading the band into a different chapter.
Mike Shinoda’s presence as the anchor of the performance gave continuity. His connection to the original creative work was visible in every moment he was on stage.
Fan interviews before and after the show ranged from people giving it 8 out of 10 to people saying 12 out of 10. The emotional range in those conversations reflected what Linkin Park means to a specific generation and how complex it is to encounter that music again in a new context.
The show ran for two and a half hours. I was present for every minute of it and I would have stayed for more. This was a night that reminded me why I cover concerts.
