Jason Derulo has a particular relationship with Paris. His viral social media moments have been watched millions of times and his music has a genuinely international fanbase. When the Last Dance Tour came to the Zenith in Paris, I went with specific expectations: choreography, energy, and Les Twins performing in their hometown.

The camera situation at this show was frustrating. Security was stricter than usual about filming equipment and I spent longer than expected negotiating my way in with my gear. This is becoming more common at international concerts in Paris and it is worth knowing in advance if you plan to document.

The opening act, Rozell, set the evening up well. Smooth vocals and an easy rapport with the crowd that warmed the room effectively.

Les Twins appearing on stage was the moment the entire evening had been building toward. These two Parisian dancers are global legends in the street dance world and watching them perform in front of their home crowd produced an energy that no international tour date could replicate. The crowd recognized what they were seeing and responded accordingly.

Derulo himself was impressive as a showman. His choreography is tight, his interaction with the audience is practiced and warm, and he knows how to work a mid-sized venue. The issue, and I will be honest about this, is that the set felt somewhat similar to the previous year’s show. Some of the same structures, some of the same moments. For a tour called Last Dance, I expected more surprise.

I rated the concert 9 out of 10. The performance quality is high and Les Twins alone justify the ticket price. But if you saw the previous Derulo tour in Paris, be aware that the formula has not changed dramatically.
