I had never attended a K-pop concert before BLACKPINK’s Deadline Tour at the Stade de France. I went with genuine curiosity and almost no personal attachment to the music. What I found was the most organized, enthusiastic, and genuinely kind fanbase I have encountered in years of concert coverage.

The Blinks, BLACKPINK’s fanbase, are something particular. Outside the venue before the show, strangers were exchanging handmade gifts, teaching each other fan chants, and helping people who had traveled from other countries find their way to their seats. The collective investment in making the experience good for everyone in the building was palpable and unusual.

The production was on a scale that justified the Stade de France. Multiple screen configurations, stage extensions that brought the performers into the crowd, elaborate costume changes, and pyrotechnics that made the venue feel genuinely transformed. The set was choreographed with military precision and performed with an energy level that never dropped.

Technical issues affected Rosé’s microphone during one section, which the crowd covered by singing louder. The way 70,000 people collectively chose to fill the gap rather than react negatively said something about what this fanbase is.

The surprise encore was what made the night unforgettable. The show appeared to be ending and then the group returned for an additional set that included an extended dance challenge section. The arena turned into a collective dance party for twenty minutes.

I gave the concert 10 out of 10. This is not a rating I give often. The combination of production quality, fan energy, performer commitment, and the specific surprise of the encore created a night I will reference for years when people ask about the best concerts I have covered in Paris.
